April 2006 Projects
The first 10 days of this month were spent on woodworking projects. Finally, I've gotten back to doing metal work..

This hanger wire piece is 14" tall. The cardboard for the liquid was an old Coke case. I may need to redo the painting...maybe airbrush in the wine.. |
| The model for this lady I found on some European's design page. She is about 15" tall and is cut from a microwave oven cover and her name is Deltrisha. The two background panels are made from hanger wire. The base is some sheet steel I found in a rental trailer.. I'm going to add a wood base beneath the metal base.. |
This metal sculpture is 15"x18"x8" and has elements some will recognize from the works of Joan Miro' , The sheet metal comes from several sources...the head is from a microwave oven. The stem of the plant is from a yard sign. The thorns are nails I dug out of some oak flooring and the leaves once were part of a microwave oven transformer. The head will get another coat or two of yellow and, maybe, some other Miro-like art. The fuzzy things were once part of a yucca plant I buzzed apart with my lawn mower. |
This piece is made of metal hanger wire. The frame and backing I picked up at the local yard waste site. The frame was made for another project that didn't work out and, I believe, I need to do something about the obvious cracks and etc in the background. The model for this was a Lucienne Day fabric she designed in the 50's. This rendering is a small fraction of the pattern in the fabric. The sculpture is 19" tall. |
