Dewalt DW733 Dust Collector w/4" Outlet

I bought this Dewalt planer as part of a deal at a local pawn shop. It is practically unused and the knives are like new. I paid $445 for it and a 18 volt Dewalt drill/trim saw kit(unused) that someone had bought at Lowes for $299 the day before and, for some reason, sold it to the pawn shop. I bought a 4" funnel-like metal part at Home Depot to attach my 4" flex pipe. I suppose I could have made it but for a little over $5 it made sense to buy that part. The rest of the collector is made from galvanized sheet metal that I scrounged from a worksite. A pattern was made from a diet Coke cardboard case and the whole metal enchilada was pop-riveted together with 1/8" rivets.

As I mentioned, the unit on top(w/barcode) was purchased but had to be trimmed down a bit. The collector is attached at the top with the tool tray capscrews and at the bottom with two screws into the plastic outlet shroud. I left small gaps in order that an 'air wash' could clean out the plenum of the collector. My trials with the collector connected to my 3 hp vacuum dust collection system produced no noticeable chips escaping into the shop.
