Torsion Box Shelves

I have my shop in a the very small space of my single car garage. In order to make space for storing some infrequenty used equipment I build a set of shelves and attached them to the ceiling behind where the garage door is located. I used some salvaged quarter inch OSB and some scrap pine to construct the shelves. Below is how I use the OSB to make some torsion box shelves.

The pieces of OSB were 2' by 4'. I decided the shelves would be 49" long and 21 " wide. The 49" length came about because the shelves are attached to the ceiling joists. There is a slight overhang of the pine strips to accommodate this extra inch in length. The pine 'frame' was held together with nails and glue.
Generous amounts of glue are applied to the frame and then the OSB skins are stapled to the frame with my air stapler.
The shelves are glued and screwed to the vertical supports. The units are ugly but functional.
