Frugalista is about 36" wide and 13" tall. The wire is fence wire and the letters were cut from a drawer bottom. Furgalista is the word-of-the-year choice by the New York Times.
Johanna

Johanna is about 29" square. The wire is fence & hanger wire and the face is made from copper clad circuit board. The original, long-necked lady was a Dominicis work but the woman had no face other than a lip... I conjured up the rest of the face... some extensive shading and some hair were needed...

bradpitt is about 23 " by 20 " and is made from a microwave oven case. The wire was from a yard sign. The photo used to make the cut pattern for this piece was taken by Chuck Close & appeared in W magazine, Feb '09
Columns is about 23" by 20" and is made from hanger wire and scrap wood. The image, to the left, is a posterized image of the actual piece. To see how I went from photograph to final product, click on this sentence.

Sno-Cones is about 23" by 21" and is made from hanger wire, scrap leather, scrap metal and wood,

OMG is 14" by 24" and is made from #9 fence wire and a wood panel I scrounged out at a dump.
Maria Elena is 19" by 22" & is made from the sheet metal of a door from a wrecked pickup truck. The backing is a sycamore wood mirror back that was scrounged from a local yard waste site. Maria Elena is a character played by Penelope Cruz in a recent Woody Allen movie.
Consistent is 15" by 38" & is made from hanger and fence wire, cardboard from a coke case and scrap wood. The piece has that groungy look of some contemporary art objects..
Door is made from a door mechanism we got from Habitat for Humanity off the free table. The marble base was cut & polished and is made from some granite counter scraps. It's curious how the base matches the splotched door paint so well..
Pinch-Me-Tight is made from scrap wood and sheet metal from a wrecked pickup truck. The name comes from a children's verse: "Adam n Eve n Pinch-Me-Tight went over the hill to see a fight. Adam n Eve came home, who stayed behind to see the fight.?" The piece is 11" by 25"
Celia is 21" by 27" by 1.25" and is made from hanger wire, scrap sheet metal and scrap wood. The frame was once part of a door frame scrounged from the curb in front of a house undergoing renovation. Celia moved to Memphis after graduating from high school in Racine, WI & is now an entertainer.She is happily married and has a set of twins.
