July 2006 Projects

This hanger wire and sheet metal sculpture has been one of the most difficult, so far, to render. I worked from a painting I found in the internet. Applying the wire as a border to some of the shaded areas was a new challenge for me. Her eyes seem to follow you as you go about your business. The piece is about 17" tall.

The orange woman is about 13" tall and made from wire hangers and sheet metal. The earring and choker were cut, using a jeweler's saw, from a microwave oven cover. The hanger wire was flattened a bit and, I believe, it gives the face a better look.
The woman is about 24" tall and is made from metal, wire hangers. The nice, little flowers in her hair are plastic and I got them at a flea market along with a quart jar of other 'jewelry.' I had a little difficulty rendering the lady because when I found her she had a towel around her in a Penny's ad sheet. The smaller pieces of wire are attached with adhesive and the large body is attached with heavy fishing line. If you look closely, you can see the attachment points.
