November-December 2007

The later part of October was spent doing commission work & some of the following are such.

This sculpture has no name and is about 20" tall. It is made from wide strapping and painted gold. It was installed as part of a commission project.
Another no-name piece that is part of the above mentioned project. It is that old propane tank that I sliced and painted it gold. It now sits on the wall down on the end of the beach. Click on this sentence to see how the piece looked before the gold paint.
Another install in that project. A few more pieces of concrete are now part of the yard art. The figure I've shown before and a Penney's ad was used for the model of the woman.. The concrete I trucked home from behind a Wally World that was being demolished.

This is the wire sculpture for an installation on the lake of the commission, a portion of which is shown above. It depicts Quan Yin, goddess of compassion in some eastern religions. The frame of the art piece needs some additional adornments(i.g. finials). The figure is mostly fence wire and the face, rice sprig and decanter once were part of a microwave oven cover.

Reclining Nude is 36" wide and 18 " tall. It is made from fence and coat hanger wire.
This is a Xmas gift suggestion for that biker(or Goth) in your life. It is all recycled steel with the chain about 24" long and the 'jewels' about 1.75" across ..... comes with a lifetime guarantee against breakage.... ...there is always a place for 'gag art' such as this!!!
The bird is about 22" high and cut from 16 gauge steel. I made the pattern for this piece sketching from a picture I found in a magazine at my barber shop. The original item was a 30's or 40's art deco ornament. The bird is installed as part of the above mentioned commission.
For When You Need a Pair of Hands. The fence wire sculpture is 8" by 6" by 13". It may not be obvious from the picture, but the lower hand serves as a base for the piece
Casual Plumbing is 24" by 28" and was fabricated from discarded copper tubing and salvaged copper wire. The copper wire was wrapped around various areas then brazed. A wire brushing was applied to remove some of the scale giving the wire a brassy/gold appearance.

December Pieces

Evanoire, Queen of the Lost Faireys, is 17" by 24". Copper-clad circuit board material was used for the facial area...a patina solution was sprayed on. The lettering was made from fence wire and hangers. The copper leaves were picked up at a flea market. All the parts were epoxied to, what used to be, a mdf cabinet door.
Casual Plumbing II is about 22" by 41". It is made from salvaged copper pipe, wire and part of a light fixture that once hung in the MU Alumni Center. Also, there are 6 pennies up near the top center. The leaves are the remainder of the home decor item mentioned in the above.
